1. Describe the key features of the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct, including the main eight principles contained in those documents. 2. Given a scenario from clinical practice, identify the applicable principles/standards from the Code of Ethics and Standards of Conduct. 3. Appreciate the advantages and limits of the Code and Standards and describe how those limits can be overcome in clinical practice.
Course instructor: Dr Nordstrom been a physical therapist since 1977 and has worked in many clinical environments including pediatrics, home health, and outpatient orthopedics. Through his career, he has held various positions including director of Rehabilitation Services, partner in a private PT clinic and director of a PT clinic. Terry is currently an associate professor and chair of the Department of Physical Therapy at Samuel Merritt University. He received his doctor of education degree from the Department of Organization and Leadership in the School of Education at the University of San Francisco. Terry has published work and presented publicly on integrating clinical and ethical reasoning in physical therapy education. He is the chair of the Chapter Ethics Committee for the California Physical Therapy Association.
